Mission Statement

I am a Peace Corps Volunteer attempting to learn Romanian and I live in Bălți (pronounced belts). I’m currently 3 month into service and would like to start this blog by answering a common question I get very often.

Why did you join the Peace Corps?” I believe this answer is going to change every few month, I will try to think back to the very beginning, before staging, as to why I joined the Peace Corps:

I applied for the Peace Corps two years ago (Sept 2012) thinking that it would be pretty an interesting opportunity and an option to fill my career when job search doesn’t work out. Little did I know the process and length it would of take.

From 2012 to 2014 I had two jobs and I didn’t receive the notification for service until much later in 2014. At the time, I had a good job and enjoyed the company my coworkers very much. My daily meetings and duties in the office were keeping me busy and I knew the work experience would be beneficial for my career. However, I felt that, at my age, I needed to get out of my comfort zone and experience a little more of the real world, not the American bubble and especially not while residing in my parent’s home. Also, a little boost to my decision is the the possibilities of being able to collect interesting stories and adventures in the Peace Corps. Oh how some of my idea would change haha (more on that later).

I will try to post every time the idea of why has changed. Normally I will attempt to post 2-3 times a week about the things I experience in Moldova and we’ll see what happens.
